I got 14 beans in the pack from Dr. Greenthumb. I germinated all of them, and all of them came up. Out of the 14, I only got 2 males, and the other dozen were females.
For the most part, they were pretty stable, some phenos varied in smell and apperance, but most were similar in every way. The Acapulco Gold is a very easy plant to grow, no special attention needed, and she took any nutrients that I gave her without any problems.
For a sativa, shes also a very fast marijuana flowering plant. I flowered them kind of small, expecting alot of marijuana plant stretch, but they did not stretch nearly as much as I planned on. Now overall in flowering, the AG is great all around. Now the best part about this plant is the marijuana yields that it gives.
I got monster yields from the Acapulco Gold, more than most all of my other marijuana strains. Now the reason I got these AG marijuana seeds, is because I wanted to find a keeper AG mom, one that is a knockout like the AG from back in the 70's. Well that was not the case here. The Acapulco Gold from Dr. Greenthumb? was some of the weakest bud I've smoked.
The potency is very poor.

You have to smoke alot of this stuff to catch a good buzz. The marijuana taste is alright, smooth but nothing special. The smell is also nothing special when dried, just a fresh piney smell. In marijuana flower she smells really good, like lemon lime mixed with a hint of Haze?
So overall, the AG is not a keeper in my opinion.
I was very disappointed with the potency of this one. I suppose if you started about a couple hundred of these seeds to find that special potent pheno, you may have found a keeper mom, but other than that, I wouldn't waste the money on these if your looking for something that is like the original AG from 30 years back. If it wasn't for the amazing yeilds she gave me, I would have been extremely unsatisfied.

History of Acapulco Gold from Wikipedia
The Oxford English Dictionary quotes an early usage of the term from a 1965 newsletter, in which it was described it as "a special grade of pot growing only in the vicinity of Acapulco. The color is either brownish gold or a mixture of gold and green. This grade has a potency surpassed by few of the green varieties and usually comes at slightly higher prices or in short weights." According to one linguistics book, "The gold in this phrase originally described the golden hue of the leaves on the marijuana plant, but later came to refer both to the high quality of the marijuana and to the especially high price it commanded." Acapulco by itself can be used as a synonym for marijuana, generally referring to a high-grade type like Acapulco gold. The similarly-named Acapulco red, refers to a reddish-brown marijuana grown near Acapulco, Mexico with reddish tops on the plants.
